Sound is pleased to maintain an
extensive Gallery of photos from
the events we've had the pleasure
of hosting. Over time clients and
guests have had questions for us
about the Gallery and the photos.
Here are the answers to the most
commonly asked of these questions.
0.
I just found this page - how do I get
to the actual Gallery?
This
website uses frames-based navigation.
You should see a control panel to
the left side of your screen. Simply
click on the Gallery link and you'll
be taken directly there. If for some
reason you don't have this control
panel, go to our HomePage and
then you'll see it.
1.
Why do you take photos at your gigs?
Isn't that what the hired/professional
photographer is there for?
We
used to try and get photos from the
hired/professional photographers
and from some of the guests. In three
years we got a grand total of four
(4) photos. This, obviously, does
not make for a terribly exciting
Gallery. Since we do not offer photography/videography
services (we're a DJ/Sound/Lighting
specialty company after all!) we
decided to start taking a digital
camera along and snapping our own
photos as time and responsibilities
allow. We've also discovered that
most hired/professional photographers
tend to leave well before the event
is over, meaning that they often
miss many memorable moments.
2.
Do you charge for the photos or the
Gallery?
No.
This is a courtesy service that we
do for our clients and their guests
because, well, we like to! It's a
great way for us to share the experience
we had with them virtually immediately,
and for them to share it with friends
and family that were unable to attend.
3.
How long will the photos be available
for?
The
average life of an Album in our Gallery
is approximately one year from the
date of the Event. As we own the
server that hosts our site and the
Gallery there is virtually no limit
to how many Albums and photos we
can have online at any given time.
The number of Albums available is
determined by how many gigs we have
booked at any given time.
4.
Can I download them to my computer?
Please
do! If you're using a Windows-based
computer you can simply put your
mouse over the image, Right-Click
and select Save Picture As, pick
a folder on your comptuer and save
it there. You might want to rename
it as we use a date-number reference
for naming images. Make sure you
have the full-size photo before you
save it - after you've clicked on
the preview icon you'll see a larger
photo - try clicking on this again
to see the full-size version (note:
you may only see a corner of the
photo on your computer screen because
this can be a pretty big picture!).
5.
Do you retouch any of the photos?
Periodically
we will retouch a photo - usually
to enhance the color or make a darker
photo brighter. We have, from time
to time, removed red-eye or cropped
unwanted items from the edges or
background. For one particular event
we went so far as to remove a bandage
from the Maid Of Honor's arm. We
use the current version of Photoshop
for these tasks.
6.
How come some of the photos are dark/blurry?
We
try not to use the camera's flash
any more than necessary as it can
get annoying and disruptive to the
party. We also want to capture some
of the dynamic energy of our club
lights and how much they bring to
an Event - if we use the flash it
often washes these out. What you
are seeing is the limitation of our
current digital camera as we do our
best to document the event.
7.
How come some of the Albums have more
photos than others?
We
take photos as our time and responsibility
to our clients and their guests allow.
We also prefer good, clear photos
with people having fun and dancing
(for obvious reasons!). If a particular
Event keeps us especially busy then,
unfortunately, there will be less
time for us to shoot pictures. We
have, on occasion, gone so far as
to entrust a client or guest with
the camera and sent them off to have
fun with it - sometimes with some
very interesting results.
8.
Why did you shoot photos of things
other than people dancing?
Any
event, especially a wedding reception,
often consists of far more than just
what happens on or around the dancefloor.
While we may be a DJ/Entertainment
company, we're also guests at the
Event. The photos are as much for
our own scrapbook as for our clients
and their guests to enjoy. The pictures
we share are meant to be a collective
memory of the whole Event, not just
the people dancing.
9.
I have photos from an event you DJed
at - I'd like to share them
- can I put them on your
Gallery?
Certainly!
Please Email them to us at photos@availablesound.com -
don't forget to tell us what Event
it was (the name of the event, or
of the bride/groom, or even just
the date will be very helpful). Please
note that we reserve the right to
select which photos will be posted
and how many we will post. We strive
to keep our Gallery clean, fun and
tasteful.
10.
I have photos from this/other events
that I'd like to post - where
can I do this?
There
are countless online photo services
available today - a simple Google
search is all it takes to find any
number of options. We have chosen
to set up and maintain our own private
Gallery on-site so that we have complete
control over the entire process -
and so that there is absolutely no
advertising or SPAM of any nature
associated with browsing or downloading
images from the Albums. We want you
to enjoy your memories - not fend
of unwanted promotions.
11.
I posted photos on my MSN/Yahoo/other
Gallery site - can you get
them from there or link to
them?
Unfortunately,
no. Many photo-hosting sites require
you to sign up with them simply to
view photos - this is not something
that we will do. Some sites will
watermark or otherwise alter the
photos - this is something we do
not want. Our software is also not
designed to allow us to link to other
sites for photos (a technique known
as "hot-linking"). If you'd
like to share your photos here simply
Email them to us at photos@availablesound.com and
we'll put them up in our Gallery
for you. If you download pictures
from this site and post them elsewhere,
we would appreciate it if you mentioned
us (www.availablesound.com) as the
source/owner of the photos.
